Get your scorecards ready to tally some impressive statistics for the Hamilton Continentals this winter in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play — 1 Player of the Year; 3 Coaches of the Year; 2 Rookies of the Year; 1 team title … the list seems to go on and on.

Add to that several All-America honors, the men’s basketball team playing into the second round of the NCAA tournament and, of course, the women’s ice hockey team advancing all the way to the NCAA Frozen Four with Head Coach Emily McNamara named national coach of the year!

“It is gratifying to see our coaches and student-athletes compete with such drive and energy, and to have our community support them with such passion and enthusiasm,” said Athletics Director Jon Hind ’80. “Our deep pride for our Buff and Blue, always balanced with humility, is what is so special about our Hill. #LetsGoBlue!”

Here are a few of the teams and individuals recognized during the winter season for outstanding performances. Congratulations!

Women's Ice Hockey

Head Coach Emily McNamara

The Continentals won a team-record 22 games (previous record was 16), recorded their highest finish in the NESCAC standings finishing in second place, and advanced to the conference championship final for the first time. Despite losing the NESCAC title to Amherst College, Hamilton received an at-large bid to its first NCAA championship and responded by defeating Nazareth College in the first round and shutting out Adrian College 2-0 on the road in the quarterfinals. That set up the Continentals to once again face off against NESCAC rival Amherst on their home ice. Hamilton’s storybook season would come to an end with a 2-0 loss in the semifinals.

Head Coach Emily McNamara

  • Named the 2022-23 American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) Women’s Division III Coach of the Year as she guided nationally ranked No. 6 Hamilton to a landmark season.
