  • Two recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize will participate in a panel at Hamilton College as part of the Sacerdote Great Names Series on Wednesday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m., in the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House. The event coincides with the 100th anniversary of Hamilton’s own Nobel Peace Prize winner, 1864 graduate and Clinton native Elihu Root, who won the 1912 award.

  • This past weekend, Hamilton College held a series of events to kick off its spring social entrepreneurship programming.  The Levitt Center – in conjunction with the Career Center and the COOP – sponsored various talks and information sessions to get students thinking about social innovation.

  • A dinner and ceremony dedicating the Collection of Spiritual Film in the Chapel Library on Feb. 21, 2013 honored the life and interests of the late Joshua Hicks '09.

  • In a unique approach to soliciting college gifts, Hamilton’s Associate Director of Annual Giving Paul Ryan ’02 will host a 24-hour fund-raising radio broadcast marathon beginning at midnight on Friday, March 1.  The Power of Many will be broadcast on Hamilton FM station WHCL 88.7, as Ryan interviews alumni around the country with the goal of generating a minimum of 500 gifts for the college.

  • Hamilton College will host an International Writers Week, featuring readings by award-winning contemporary international novelist A.S. Byatt, poet Ishion Hutchinson, and novelist Kamila Shamsie ’94, on Feb. 26 – March 2. All the events are free and open to the public.

  • In in the wake of an exam boycott recently at Johns Hopkins University, InsideHigherEd reported on a different boycott 25 years earlier on Hamilton's campus.  "Game of Theories," the story of Eugene M. Tobin Distinguished Professor of Sociology Dan Chambliss’ challenge to students in his introductory sociology courses and how first-year student John Werner '92 successfully  met it, was retold on Feb. 22.

  • Marc Simon '94 was named event director of the U.S. PGA Merchandise Show, held annually in Orlando in January, and the U.S. PGA Expo in Las Vegas in August.  Previously, Simon was the PGA Gold Exhibitions group sale director and has been a member of the PGA Show management team since 1998.

  • Hamilton alumnus David Dunn '90 and his brother Nat Dunn have developed a new Word game application, released in Dec. 2012.  Word Skill, similar to Words with Friends and Scrabble, challenges users through a more skill based game.

  • NYC Program students spent a recent morning with Hamilton alumnus Bob Kinkel ’79 at Spin Recording Studios, a 4,000 square foot, world-class audio recording  studio in Long Island City.  Kinkel is a professional keyboardist and music engineer best known for his role as a co-creator/co-producer/co-composer and touring keyboardist with Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

  • Educator Barbara Madeloni K’81 will present a lecture titled “Jamming the Machine: Education for Democracy not Corporatocracy,” on Monday, Feb. 18, at 4:15 p.m., in the Red Pit, Kirner-Johnson Building.  Madeloni is a senior lecturer in the Teacher Education program at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Her lecture is co-sponsored by Hamilton’s Comparative Literature and Education departments, and is free and open to the public.
