  • On the heels of two successful edX online course offerings in 2015, Hamilton will debut a third course, Jazz: the Music, the Stories, the Players, presented by Joe Williams Director of the Jazz Archive and Lecturer in Music Performance Monk Rowe beginning on Feb. 2.

  • Co-ed a cappella group Duelly Noted is preparing for its sixth annual concert tour during Hamilton’s winter break. The four-day tour will include performances in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York.

  • This year the national media highlighted the college’s focus on expanding access and equalizing experiences on campus in several major articles. Outlets featuring these Hamilton policies and programs included The Chronicle of Higher Education, Huffington Post and the Hechinger Report. The college also received broad national media attention most recently with the announcement of its incoming president, David Wippman, via an Associated Press news story.

  • All semester long, the Hamilton College Career and Life Outcomes Center has brought back alumni to meet with students and discuss their careers and opportunities in their fields.  From Jake Taylor ’14 discussing AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) to Richard Previdi ’77 sharing details of his career in real estate, alumni were eager to provide advice and answer students’ questions.

  • Hamilton’s need-blind admission policy is the focus of a Dec. 18 feature story published by Huffington Post titled “How One Top College Ended a Policy that Weeded Out Poor Students.” The article detailed how Hamilton made the decision to eliminate merit scholarships and later to adopt the need-blind policy that eliminates applicants' financial need from consideration in admission decisions.

  • Students participating in Hamilton’s Program  in New York City recently had the opportunity to visit Facebook. Fabio Freyre ’83 (VP of Global Marketing Solutions at Facebook), gave the students a tour of the New York office and shared his insights about the company. According to Freyre, Facebook’s goal is to connect the world through its family of apps: Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and Whatsapp.

  • The Hamilton College Board of Trustees has elected unanimously David Wippman, the William S. Pattee Professor of Law and dean of the University of Minnesota Law School, to be the College’s 20th president. The appointment is effective July 1, 2016.

  • Hamilton College's Director of Athletics Jon Hind '80 was presented with the 2015 Extra Man Award by the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association in Baltimore, Md., on Friday afternoon.

  • Hamilton Board of Trustees Chair Steve Sadove '73, P'07,'10,'13 and Bob Delaney ’79 , co-chairs of the Presidential Search committee, announced in an email to the Hamilton community that the College’s 20th president will be introduced today. The announcement will be live-streamed at 4 p.m.

  • Eight Hamilton students have been selected to receive the Class of 1979 Student Travel Award. The award, established by the alumni of Hamilton’s Class of 1979, offers financial assistance to Hamilton students who wish to pursue extensive research projects in different parts of the world.
