This summer, Sanju Koirala ’19 is conducting research on creative writing as a tool for psychological healing in Nepal with literature and creative writing professor Jane Springer. Her research is funded by an Emerson summer research grant.

A poem by Associate Professor of English and Creative Writing Jane Springer, "Forties War Widows, Stolen Grain," was chosen for inclusion in this year's Best American Poetry Anthology.  Springer has been invited to read at the book launch ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 18, at The New School in New York City.

Three Hamilton College faculty members were approved for tenure by the College’s board of trustees during a recent meeting. The board granted tenure to Jessica Burke, Hispanic studies, Jane Springer, English and creative writing, and Nigel Westmaas, Africana studies.

Assistant Professor of English and Creative Writing Jane Springer has been awarded a prestigious  MacDowell Fellowship for a residency at the Colony in Peterborough, N.H. , from Sept. 19 – Oct.  17.  The MacDowell Colony is the nation’s leading artist colony; it nurtures the arts by offering creative individuals of the highest talent an inspiring environment in which they can produce enduring works of the imagination.

Assistant Professor of English Jane Springer will read at the Poetry Society of America’s New York City Poetry Festival on Saturday, July 27.

On October 5, senior creative writing majors Seiya Asada-Johnson, Martin Cain, Anna Paikert and Cecelie Pikus traveled to New York City to attend the 13th annual New Yorker Festival with Professors of Creative Writing Doran Larson and Jane Springer.

Stan Brakhage is one of the most significant avant-garde filmmakers in the 20th century. His influence can be seen across genres and decades. This summer, Emerson grant recipient Marty Cain ’13 is exploring the aesthetic philosophy of Brakhage and its relation to contemporary poetry.
