Hong Gang Jin, the William R. Kenan Professor of East Asian Languages & Literature, participated in the National Chinese Education Conference on literacy of Chinese language, at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, from March 7-9. As a plenary speaker she presented on “Component Skills of Chinese Literacy: Character Recognition and Reading Comprehension.”

Kenan Professor of East Asian Languages and Literature and director of the Associated Colleges in China program, was an invited speaker at a conference held Sept. 23-24 in Washington, D.C. The conference was organized by the U.S. Department of Education’s International and Foreign Language Education office.

Hong Gang Jin, the William R. Kenan Professor of East Asian Languages & Literature and director of the Associated Colleges in China Program, was one of two guest speakers to present day-long workshops for the Chinese Language Teachers Association’s STARTALK Program on Chinese Literacy.

De Bao Xu, the Leonard C. Ferguson Professor of East Asian Languages and Literatures, presented an invited talk at ICICE 2013, the International Conference on Internet Chinese Education, held July 11-14 in Pasadena, Calif.

The Tamagawa University Taiko (Drum) and Dance Group will give a workshop and performance on Wednesday, April 3, in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts. The workshop will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and the performance will follow at 7 p.m.  The workshop and performance are free and open to the public.

William R. Kenan Professor of East Asian Languages and Literature Hong Gang Jin was an invited key speaker on March 16 at the 2nd Annual Chinese Pedagogical Workshop. The event was sponsored by the Department of Asian Studies of Penn State University.

William R. Kenan Professor of Chinese Hong Gang Jin was a presenter at the annual conference of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages and the Chinese Language Teachers Association (ACTFL/CLTA).

William R. Kenan Professor of East Asian Languages and Literature Hong Gang Jin was invited to present a paper, “Cognition and Chinese Language Acquisition,” at the International Symposium on Chinese Linguistics and Language Teaching at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. The May symposium was co-sponsored by University of Hawaii at Manoa and Peking University.
