In an essay published in The Washington Post titled “Beyond disgust: How to get eaters to try insects or cultured meats,” Associate Professor of Philosophy Alexandra Plakias replied, “The answer depends in part on what foods Westerners can be persuaded to eat.”

Associate Professor of Philosophy Alexandra Plakias ’02 recently presented during the 2024 International Society for Gastronomic Sciences and Studies (ISGSS) Congress at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, Italy.

Essays by Russell Marcus, the Christian A. Johnson Professor of Teaching Excellence, were published in recent months in The Art of Teaching Philosophy: Reflective Values and Concrete Practices, edited by Brynn Welch (London: Bloomsbury, 2024).

Forty-five new faculty members have entered Hamilton’s ranks, including nine tenure-track professors in anthropology, art, computer science, dance and movement studies, economics, government, mathematics and statistics, music, and Russian. They join 31 visiting professors and lecturers, and four teaching fellows for the 2024-25 academic year.
