“This room holds many ghosts,” Tony Award-winning playwright Richard Nelson ’72 said as he began his talk in the Chapel on Tuesday, March 11. “Ghosts in every corner.” Nelson delivered the Tolles lecture titled “The Peculiarity of Theater.”

A newly-written score by Patrick Doyle will be performed by a chamber ensemble in accompaniment with a showing of the 1927 silent film It on Tuesday, March 11, at 7:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall in Schambach Center for the Performing Arts. The film will be preceded by a talk by the composer at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The Hamilton College Orchestra, conducted by Heather Buchman, presents the annual Brainstorm! concert on Sunday, March 9,  at 3 p.m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts.

Hamilton’s Department of Dance and Movement Studies will present its annual Spring Dance Concert on Friday, March 7, and Saturday, March 8, at 7:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and Performing Arts. The performance will feature Hamilton student dancers and choreography by Hamilton faculty Elaine Heekin, Sandra Stanton, Bruce Walczyk and Paris Wilcox ’95 in addition to guest choreographer Matthew Powell.

The Hamilton College Department of Music presented the annual Choir Musical on  Feb. 7-9, in Wellin Hall. The musical, Candide,  (National Theatre Version) features music by Leonard Bernstein, with book adapted from Voltaire by Hugh Wheeler in a New Version by John Caird.

Hamilton College Performing Arts begins the spring semester with a modern dance performance featuring Doug Varone and Dancers, presented by the Mohawk Valley Dance Partnership, on Saturday, Jan. 25.  This and all performing arts events will take place at 7:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts.
