  • New York Program students were recently invited to spend the morning at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Students got the opportunity to speak with Andrea Tambalotti, an assistant vice president in the Research and Statistics group at the Fed, and afterwards were treated to a tour of the famous gold vault and a brief overview tour. The group was also joined by Rujun Han '15 who is currently working as a research analyst at the Fed.

  • Prior to yesterday’s Federal Reserve’s announcement that there would be no immediate change in interest rates, Henry Platt Bristol Professor of Economics Ann Owen was interviewed by Reuters news service and American Public Media’s Marketplace on possible considerations. 

  • Ann Owen, the Henry Platt Bristol Professor of Economics, was featured on an Aug. 27 American Public Media Marketplace broadcast. In a segment titled “Just how strong are those fundamentals?”  Owen commented on the mix of data beyond gross domestic product that are significant in  determining the nation’s economic health.

Owen said that raising rates could mean higher rates on auto loans, credit cards and adjustable-rate mortgages, though increases would likely be gradual.
