The Hamilton College and Community Masterworks Chorale and Symphoria will perform Franz Joseph Haydn’s The Seasons on Tuesday, April 29, at 7:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts.

Hamilton’s barbershop quartet, The Major Four-Teens, won the Seneca Land District collegiate quartet competition on April 11 in Geneva, N.Y. Seniors Gabe Mollica (tenor), Jake Taylor (lead), Andrew Rippel (baritone) and Will Robertson (bass) make up the quartet.

Professor of Music Lydia Hamessley presented a paper titled “‘Shattered Image’: Appalachian White-Trash Femininities in the Songs of Dolly Parton” at the annual meeting of the Society for American Music held March 5-9 in Lancaster, Pa.

The National Museum of American History has designated April as Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM). So in the spirit of JAM, Hamilton’s Fillius Jazz Archive is featuring one artist daily on the news site along with that individual’s archived audio interview and transcript. Today’s featured artist is Junior Mance.

Professor of Music Samuel Pellman presented his composition of digital music “Selected Galaxies: Peculiar” on March 22 at the Society of Composers, Inc. (SCI) National Conference at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. The performance included a video created by Ben Salzman ’14 as part of an Emerson Project collaboration with Pellman.

The Hamilton College Orchestra, conducted by Heather Buchman, presents the annual Brainstorm! concert on Sunday, March 9,  at 3 p.m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts.

The Hamilton College Department of Music presents The Voice: New Jazz Artists with “Doc” Woods on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 7:30 p.m., in the Fillius Events Barn.

The Hamilton College Department of Music presented the annual Choir Musical on  Feb. 7-9, in Wellin Hall. The musical, Candide,  (National Theatre Version) features music by Leonard Bernstein, with book adapted from Voltaire by Hugh Wheeler in a New Version by John Caird.

Hamilton College and Community Masterworks Chorale with Symphoria present their winter concert, Music to Herald the Christmas Season, on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall in the Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts.

The Hamilton College Saxophone Ensemble performed to an enthusiastic audience at the weekly Sunday open mic night at the Tramontane on Lincoln Ave. in Utica on Nov. 17. Selections included “Appalachian Spring/Simple Gifts,” “Eleanor Rigby” and “N’kosi Sikeleli Afrika.”
