  • Associate Professor of Hispanic Studies Joana Sabadell-Nieto delivered an invited lecture on April 2 at the Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics at Syracuse University.

  • A group of Hamilton College students are sharing their knowledge of the Spanish language with some very young learners this year. They’re volunteering their time to tutor first grade and kindergarten students in Spanish at Clinton Central Schools (CCS). Organized by Associate Professor of Hispanic Studies Edna Rodríguez-Plate, the program began at the start of this academic year.

  • Visiting Assistant Professor of Hispanic Studies Irene Depetris Chauvin presented a paper at the Society for Cinema and Media Studies (SCMS) annual conference March 21-25 in Boston.

  • Marta Segarra, professor of French literature and gender studies at the University of Barcelona, will present a lecture titled “Self-portrait as Fiction: Histories of Women Artists” on Thursday, April 12, at 8 p.m., in room 101 in the Kirner-Johnson Building. The lecture is free and open to the public.  

  • Visiting Instructor of Hispanic Studies Alessandra Chiriboga presented “Differing Performances, Differing Modernities: Early Central American Experimental Theatre” on March 3 at the 20th Southeast Conference on Foreign Languages, Literatures and Films at Stetson University in DeLand, Fla.

  • A Chilean movie co-subtitled by Visiting Assistant Professor of Hispanic Studies Virginia Gutierrez-Berner premiered Jan. 20 at the Sundance Film Festival. Joven y alocada (Young and Wild) is director Marialy Rivas’ first feature film and will also be shown at the Berlin Film Festival in February.
