  • John McEnroe, the John and Anne Fischer Professor in Fine Arts, has returned to Crete for fifth season of the Gournia Excavation Project. As the excavation architect, he is working with Bridget Maguire '16 and Ianna Recco '16 to map the site in order to understand the history and social organization of this major town that flourished from 1900 BCE - 1450 BCE.

  • Although the school year has ended, the campus is still bustling with activity. In particular, it’s hard to miss the some 120 people working on the new Kevin and Karen Kennedy Center for Theatre and the Studio Arts, which will be opening its doors this fall. The building is in its final stages of construction, representing over 13 years of planning and millions of dollars in donations and serving as a beacon for the arts on the Hill. The Kennedy Center, positioned directly  across College Hill Road from the Wellin Art Museum, will offer students and faculty incredible spaces in which to create, teach and  perform.

  • Two photography exhibits by students in Assistant Professor of Art Rob Knight’s classes will be displayed on campus this week. Sixteen Advanced Photography students are exhibiting their final projects on May 13-16, in the Sadove Student Center basement. A reception for that exhibit will be held Tuesday, May 13, at 5 p.m. Students from Introduction to Photography will present their final projects in an exhibit open from May 13-18 in the Bristol Hub.

  • Hamilton College will name its theatre and studio arts building for Kevin and Karen Kennedy in recognition of their lifetime giving to the college, including $10 million for the new project. They are the lead donors to the $46.8 million building that is located directly across College Hill Road from the Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art, which opened in 2012.
