“Contents Under Pressure,” a one-person exhibition of new paintings and drawings by Visiting Assistant Professor of Art Jane Fine, will be on display at Pierogi in Brooklyn from Sept. 11 through Oct. 11. An opening reception will be held at the gallery on Friday, Sept. 11, from 7 to 9 p.m.

John McEnroe, the John and Anne Fischer Professor of Fine Arts, is a contributing author of "Excavations at Gournia 2010-2012" recently published in Hesperia: The Journal of the American School of Classical Studies in Athens. The article summarizes the first three seasons of work at this important Bronze Age town in Crete.

A Hamilton student, alumnus and professor with a shared interest in the “Ithaca style” of music gathered this summer in North Carolina to enjoy their craft.

For Sarah Wallack ’16 this summer, an art museum was much more than simply a place to look at paintings; it was a place to find inspiration and to share it. As a studio art intern in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts’  (MFA) education department, she helped to teach children’s art classes through the museum’s Journeys Through Art summer program. As a Hamilton art major she also found inspiration for her own work. 

The British Museum is one of the most prominent museums in the world, known for a wide range of collections dedicated to human history and culture. This summer, Lauren Scutt ’16 worked to improve one of those collections through an internship with the Museum’s Beyond Boundaries: Religion, Region, Language and the State project. 

Associate Professor of Art Ella Gant and James L. Ferguson Professor of Music Samuel Pellman presented "mindMeld" for digital video and digital music in a live performance on Aug. 12 at the Kyma International Sound Symposium, at Montana State University in Bozeman.

Though the human eye processes hundreds of different shades and tones every day, color may not be a subject that is often considered by the average individual. Art major Lily Anne Johnston ’16, however is exploring color theory this summer in order to paint a vivid picture of the Upstate New York area’s regional color history through an Emerson Foundation grant.

“Moonstruck” by Professor of Art William Salzillo will be featured in an exhibition at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice. The print was one of 30 selected for the Los Angeles Printmaking Society International Exchange Exhibition that runs from July 28 through August 15.

Hamilton’s Department of Dance and Movement Studies was profiled in the July 2015 issue of Dance Studio Life Magazine.  Each issue highlights “College Close ups: What Students Need to Know about University Dance Programs.”

“Class of 2015,” a longitudinal portrait project comprising photographs and video interviews that examine the development of personal identity among a group of students from Hamilton's class of 2015, will open at the Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art on June 4. Assistant Professor of Art Robert Knight began this series in 2011, when he started teaching at Hamilton. A reception will be held on Thursday, June 4, from 4 to 6 p.m.
