Lecturer in East Asian Languages and Literature Tiao-Guan Huang delivered an online lecture titled “Learning Culture Through Food: Taiwan’s Cuisine and Stories” to faculty and students in the Chinese Flagship Program at the University of North Georgia. 

Drawing on her research and teaching experiences, Huang introduced Taiwan’s geography, history, and food culture, illustrating how culinary practices reveal cultural identity and historical transformation. Her talk explored topics such as indigenous food traditions, the influence of colonial powers on local diets, Japanese-era agricultural reforms, and the continuing cultural significance of street food and night markets in contemporary Taiwan.
