Isserman’s America Divided Updated and Revised
The fourth edition of America Divided: The Civil War of the 1960s, written by Maurice Isserman, the Publius Virgilius Rogers Professor of American History, and Georgetown Professor of History Michael Kazin, has been published by Oxford University Press.
The new edition contains increased coverage of the “global Sixties” – cultural and political events in other industrial countries that were similar to those occurring in the United States – and compares the 2008 presidential election with controversial aspects of the 1960s. In addition, there is new material on environmentalism, gay rights and the women’s movement, and the economics and popular culture of the 1960s have been given expanded coverage.
America Divided was first published in 2000 and was named one of The Washington Post’s “Best Books of 2000.”
