Marvin Takes Part in Trans Community and Scholarship Events

Assistant Professor of Women's and Gender Studies Amy Marvin recently participated in a trans community, film, and scholarship event across Buffalo and Syracuse.

In late October, she facilitated a community talkback with sound artist and film programmer Isobel Bess at Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center in Buffalo after a screening of the film I Saw the TV Glow (A24, 2024). Marvin and Bess also co-presented a forthcoming essay on the film during the Fighting Back: Trans Affirmation, Care and Futures symposium at University of Buffalo.

Marvin also participated in the Beyond the Fight for Existence: Trans* Knowledge on Life, Care, and Repair symposium at Syracuse University where she was part of a roundtable on Trans* Knowledge / Trans Philosophy.

This series of events created connections with trans community and scholarship in Central New York, while also creating global connections by featuring live transcription from English to Spanish and Spanish to English.
