Pavitra Sundar, associate professor of literature, participated in a roundtable on the topic of music, sound, and protest at the Annual Conference on South Asia in Madison, Wisc., from Oct. 18 to 21.

Her paper, titled "Bluegrass in Brown: The South Asian Travels of a Folk Genre," is part of a new research project about how the musical genre is taken up and transformed by musicians in Kolkata, India.
