Approved Off-campus Routes for Exercise
By Dave Thompson, Director of Campus Wellness
February 3, 2021
We’ve heard from many of you that you are eager to get back to more outdoor exercise, and we’re just as eager to provide wellness options. The COVID-19 Task Force approved my proposal to allow running (jogging, walking, etc.) on the following off-campus routes and will consider adding additional routes later:
- Griffin Road (out and back), 3 miles
- Lower Loop (Griffin Rd., Valley View Rd., Norton Ave., Campus Rd.), 4 miles
- Upper Loop (College Hill Rd., Skyline Dr., Valley View Rd., Griffin Rd.), 5 miles
You must continue to wear a face covering and physically distance by six feet at all times when exercising on campus. If you use the approved off campus routes you may remove your mask but must maintain 12 ' distance from others.
Please exercise extra caution on the roads, particularly in inclement weather. Pay close attention to oncoming vehicles, especially snowplows, and avoid running in their paths. Don’t assume that a driver sees you and get out of the way. Pedestrians must always yield to vehicles unless in a crosswalk.
