At the end of an hour-long conversation about politics, activism, and change, Angela Davis faced one last question: What brings you joy?

Hamilton College’s C. Christine Johnson Voices of Color Lecture Series will present “An Evening with Angela Davis,” on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 6:30 p.m. in Wellin Hall in Schambach Center on campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Throughout June, members of the Hamilton community came together and celebrated Pride Month thanks to several campus events hosted by student and staff organizers.

During their four years at Hamilton, Kye Lippold ’10, Geoffrey Hicks ’09, Robyn Gibson ’10, Amy Tannenbaum ’10, Corrine Bancroft ’10, Stephanie Tafur ’10, and Wai Yee Poon ’10 led an effort to improve the experiences of marginalized groups on campus.

Director of the Days-Massolo Center Paola Lopez and Associate Dean of Diversity & Inclusion Maria Genao-Homs recently presented at the 2021 National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Multicultural Institute.

After a year like no other, La Vanguardia recognized a need to remember, reconnect, and keep moving forward. That’s why the students of the Latinx organization are focusing this year’s Latinx Heritage Month celebration on three essential cultural elements for many Latinx communities: Recuerdos (memories), raíces (roots), and renacimiento (rebirth).

Colorful artwork, fresh food, and a lively conversation with a renowned champion for same-sex marriage were among the highlights of Hamilton’s first Pride Month celebration sponsored by the Days-Massolo Center (DMC).

The Days-Massolo Center (DMC) will celebrate its history and 10-year anniversary throughout the 2021-22 academic year. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni will collaborate on a celebration that will pay tribute to DMC’s founders while examining the progress and future for the Center. The DMC began as a student-led Social Justice Initiative and has evolved into a cultural and equity center with a new student-generated mission, vision, and future intentional work.

As a group, the 15 posters describe a constellation of Hamilton women who inspire and support women students in classrooms, dorms, and dining halls. The campus “sheroes” were nominated by students for Women’s History Month.
