The Hamilton Intramurals program offers opportunities for participation in a wide variety of sports and activities. The activities are designed to allow for social, educational, and physical development beyond the classroom. The program is coordinated by the Director of Fitness & Recreation, and supervised by the student members of the Intramural Sports Committee.

  • To provide a wide range of individual and team sports or leisure activities to Hamilton students

  • To provide opportunities for social interaction and the development of lasting friendships while participating in physical activity

  • To teach the values of sportsmanship, the principles of fair play, and a positive attitude

  • To develop habits of participation in physical activity that can carry over into everyday living.

  • To provide leadership opportunities through team management and/or employment opportunities as Intramural Sports Committee officers

Available Leagues

The following sports have leagues available for play!

Basketball

Intramural Basketball is Hamilton's largest and most popular sports league! We offer a fall semester season and a spring semester season of up to 18 teams per season. Teams engage in traditional 5v5 basketball play in Alumni Gym and/or Bundy Scott Fieldhouse. 

Indoor Soccer

The indoor soccer league takes place during the fall semester.  Teams engage in7v7 indoor soccer play in our indoor turf facility.

Volleyball

Intramural Volleyball is Hamilton's second-largest sports league! We offer a spring semester season of up to 16 teams.  Teams engage in traditional 6v6 volleyball play within a best-of-3 game series in Alumni gym.

Single-Day Events and Tournaments

The Intramural Sports program offers a host of single-day events and tournaments to participate in as an individual or as a team/pair. All events and sign-ups are announced from imsports@hamilton.edu as they will occur.

Compete in the traditional playground game you loved or despised! IM Dodgeball

America's newest sports craze has taken over Hamilton! Large-scale Pickleball events are hosted 1-2 times per semester, along with organized open rec play with the Intramurals leaders. Dink your way to gift cards prizes and more!

Intramural Sports Committee

Ella Crawford ’25

Ella, a member of the Varsity Women's Ice Hockey team, is a neuroscience major and has been a member of the IM committee since Fall 2022. Her favorite part about serving on the IM committee is seeing how people come together to play different sports, and how everyone who comes to participate with passion and effort!

Greg Parizhsky ’26

Greg is an economics and art double-major and has been a member of the IM committee since fall 2023. His favorite part about serving on the IM committee is getting to know all the players and being there to see teams win (and lose)!

Abby Weiss ’25

Abby, a member the Varsity Women’s Ice Hockey team, is a psychology major and has been a member of the IM committee since 2022. Her favorite part about serving on the IM committee is the IM culture. She feels there is nothing better than pulling up to the IM games and watching teams cheer each other on and just having fun.

Maria Ioannou ’26

Maria, a member of the Volleyball Club, is a computer science and art double-major, and has been a member of the IM committee since 2023. Her favorite part about serving on the IM committee is how passionate people are when it comes to sports, and seeing that in action - especially from people that are not varsity athletes. It makes her really happy!
