Kevin W. Kennedy Professor of Art Katharine Kuharic’s work will be included in an exhibition at Bowling Green State University (BGSU). “Consumed: Nourishment and Indulgence” runs Sept. 6 through Oct. 9 at the Willard Wankelman Gallery in the BGSU Fine Arts Center.

The legacy of Kirkland College at Hamilton includes a strong tradition of creativity, feminism and a penchant for the arts. Katherine Bickmore ’15 seems to embody that legacy. An aspiring artist, Bickmore is using this summer to further develop her artistic skills and examine the portrayal of women in art from the mid-19th century to present day. In her Emerson Foundation Project, “The Degeneration, Deterioration, and Decay of Society: A Critique of the Femme Fatale in Art,” she is creating a series of paintings that examine the depiction of women in art as dark and seductive beings.

Faculty Art Show 2013, an exhibition highlighting artwork from the art faculty at Hamilton College, opens at the Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art on Thursday, June 6, and runs through Sunday, July 28.

After their original plans to visit the studios of professional artists fell through in October due to damage caused by Hurricane Sandy, nine senior art concentrators and art faculty were able to reschedule the always-anticipated trip and visit New York City on Jan. 24-27.

“Priestess,” a painting by Kevin W. Kennedy Professor of Art Katharine Kuharic, is currently on display at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA) in an exhibition of more than 200 works from the Linda Lee Alter Collection of Art by Women.

Six members of the Hamilton faculty were recognized for their research and creative successes with the Dean’s Scholarly Achievement Awards, presented by Dean of Faculty Patrick Reynolds at Class & Charter Day on Friday, May 4. The Awards recognize individual accomplishments, but reflect a richness and depth of scholarship and creative activity across the entire faculty.  The awards were made in three categories: Career Achievement, Early Career Achievement and Notable Year Achievement.

Working in the Lou, a solo exhibition by Kevin W. Kennedy Professor of Art Katharine Kuharic, is on display through May 5 at the Bruno David Gallery in St. Louis.  

“Priestess,” a painting by Kevin W. Kennedy Professor of Art Katharine Kuharic, was recently added to the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) permanent collection. The painting is included in “The Linda Lee Alter Collection of Art by Women,” acquired through a gift to PAFA. 

Kevin W. Kennedy Professor of Art Katharine Kuharic will present “Pound of Flesh,” a lecture about her recent work, on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at noon, in Chestnut Lecture Hall at the San Francisco Art Institute. The lecture is open to the public.

In conjunction with Kevin Kennedy Professor of Art Katharine Kuharic’s exhibition at P.P.O.W Gallery in New York City, poets Linda Norton, Wayne Koestenbaum and Eileen Myles will read from their work tonight (Nov. 1) at 6:30 p.m. Kuharic’s solo exhibition is titled Pound of Flesh and will be on display through Nov. 12 at P.P.O.W., located at 535 West 22nd Street.
