  • Faculty Art Show 2013, an exhibition highlighting artwork from the art faculty at Hamilton College, opens at the Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art on Thursday, June 6, and runs through Sunday, July 28.

  • After their original plans to visit the studios of professional artists fell through in October due to damage caused by Hurricane Sandy, nine senior art concentrators and art faculty were able to reschedule the always-anticipated trip and visit New York City on Jan. 24-27.

  • Six members of the Hamilton faculty were recognized for their research and creative successes with the Dean’s Scholarly Achievement Awards, presented by Dean of Faculty Patrick Reynolds at Class & Charter Day on Friday, May 4. The Awards recognize individual accomplishments, but reflect a richness and depth of scholarship and creative activity across the entire faculty.  The awards were made in three categories: Career Achievement, Early Career Achievement and Notable Year Achievement.

  • In conjunction with Kevin Kennedy Professor of Art Katharine Kuharic’s exhibition at P.P.O.W Gallery in New York City, poets Linda Norton, Wayne Koestenbaum and Eileen Myles will read from their work tonight (Nov. 1) at 6:30 p.m. Kuharic’s solo exhibition is titled Pound of Flesh and will be on display through Nov. 12 at P.P.O.W., located at 535 West 22nd Street.

  • An essay titled “On the Habits and Messages of Yellow” by Kevin Kennedy Professor of Art Katharine Kuharic appears in the 06/Global Color issue of Hand/Eye magazine. The publication, whose focus is “about connecting cultures and inspiring action,” dedicated this issue to the topic of color. In her essay, Kuharic shares her thoughts on yellow’s relevance to us. The article also includes a full page image of one of her paintings titled “Jack’s Original.”

  • Pound of Flesh, a solo exhibition of works by Kevin W. Kennedy Professor of Art Katharine Kuharic, will be on display Oct. 13 through Nov. 12 at P.P.O.W. in New York City. An opening reception will be held Oct. 13.
