  • When there is an emergency involving illness or injury on Hamilton’s campus, student EMTs can reach somebody in need within minutes. The team that forms Hamilton College Emergency Medical Services (HCEMS) consists of 21 students from a wide variety of backgrounds and interests. This week, Hamilton recognizes their efforts through the National Collegiate Emergency Services Foundation’s National Collegiate EMS Week.

  • Hamilton students won the first round of the College Fed Challenge competition  on Friday, Nov. 9. The team of presenters - seniors Eric Boole, Danny Kaufman, Aislinn Shea and Amanda Thorman - advance to the semi-final round of the challenge to be held at the New York Federal Reserve on Wednesday, November 14. The first round was hosted by the Arthur Levitt Public Affairs Center.

  • Hamilton is offering new ticket options for concert attendees and will accept donations for those affected by Hurricane Sandy when it hosts a benefit on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square.

  • Hamilton’s Arthur Levitt Public Affairs Center will host the upstate competition of the College Fed Challenge on Friday, Nov. 9.  The Challenge is a team competition for undergraduate college students inspired by the working of the Federal Open Market Committee. Hamilton will be represented by students in Professor of Economics Ann Owen’s Monetary Policy class. The students presenting are seniors Eric Boole, Danny Kaufman, Aislinn Shea and Amanda Thorman.  The entire class participates, with some doing the presenting and others helping them to prepare.

  • Eight members of the class of 2016 are getting the chance to change the world for the better as Community Outreach and Opportunity Program (COOP) Service Interns.  The students, all of whom  had outstanding service records while in high school, become interns for local nonprofits during their first two years on the Hill.

  • The Newman Council hosted its annual Trust Treat on Halloween for children from Thea Bowman House in Utica. Trust Treat is a Halloween celebration that brings youth from the Utica area, as well as the children of Hamilton employees, to the campus for a safe and fun evening of trick-or treating.  Students in residence halls, academic departments and campus organizations dress in costume, decorate their spaces and hand out candy to the visitors.

  • The Hamilton College Theatre Department announces its Fall production, The Dispute by Marivaux, translated by Gideon Lester. Performances will run Thursday, Nov. 1 – Saturday, Nov. 3, at 7:30 p.m., and Wednesday, Nov. 7 – Saturday, Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m., and at 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays, Nov. 3 and Nov. 10. All performances take place in Minor Theater.

  • Assistant Professor of Art Robert Knight took a group of students from Art 116: Introduction to Photography, to MASS MoCA on Oct. 20.  According to Knight, “It was a great chance for the students to get off the Hill and see one of the region’s best contemporary art museums.”

  • The Apollo Theater has seen more great acts than nearly any other venue. It’s one of the oldest theaters in the United States, and certainly one of the most instantly recognizable. Since its opening in 1934, it has served as a landmark at 125th Street in the Harlem neighborhood of New York. Students in this fall’s New York Program trekked uptown on Oct. 17 to attend a show at The Apollo.

  • Julia Beaty ’13, Becca Hazlett ’13 and Greg Newton ’14 each presented their papers at the 70th annual convention of the New York State Communication Association on October 19-21, in Ellenville, N.Y.
