Work by Assistant Professor of Art Robert Knight was selected for a group exhibition titled “American Art Today: Figures.” The exhibition at The Bascom Center for the Visual Arts in Highlands, N.C., runs Sept. 7 through Jan. 5.

Through our contemporary media, readers frequently hear about the decline of religion in America.  Alison Ritacco ’14 and Hannah Grace O’Connell ’14 are working with Visiting Associate Professor of Religious Studies Brent Plate and Assistant Professor of Art Robert Knight, to examine the realities of religious life in the Utica and Clinton areas, which may complicate that common conception. In their Levitt Group Summer Research project, “Religious Spaces in Transition,” they are focusing on how local religious institutions adapt to change.

Faculty Art Show 2013, an exhibition highlighting artwork from the art faculty at Hamilton College, opens at the Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art on Thursday, June 6, and runs through Sunday, July 28.

Hamilton College’s highest awards for teaching were presented to three faculty members during the annual Class & Charter Day ceremony on May 13. Professor of Music Lydia Hamessley, Assistant Professor of Religious Studies Abhishek Amar and Rob Knight, assistant professor of art, received awards. Assistant Professor of Government Ted Lehmann was named the recipient of Student Assembly’s Sidney Wertimer Award.

After their original plans to visit the studios of professional artists fell through in October due to damage caused by Hurricane Sandy, nine senior art concentrators and art faculty were able to reschedule the always-anticipated trip and visit New York City on Jan. 24-27.

Works by Assistant Professor of Art Robert Knight is on display at Gallery Kayafas in Boston. A solo exhibition, Rated G will be on view Jan. 11 - Feb. 16.

Assistant Professor of Art Robert Knight published “Family of Man,” a review of a recent photography exhibition, in the current issue of Afterimage: The Journal of Media Arts and Cultural Criticism.
