Fallcoming and Inauguration Weekend was a vibrant celebration of community, creativity, and tradition, as students, faculty, alumni, and guests gathered to welcome Steven Tepper as Hamilton's 21st president.
As we welcome new and returning members of our community back to College Hill, we want to offer a glimpse into what campus has been up to these past few months while many have been away. Here’s a sampling of new spaces, new faces, renamed buildings, major moves, and more.
Crossroads Programming Around the Elections
Crossroads: Elections and Practicing the Liberal Arts is an array of integrated programming around the 2024 elections that spans the full range of disciplines, departments, and spaces on the Hamilton campus.

Associate Professor of Sociology Jaime Kucinskas and Associate Professor of Environmental Studies Aaron Strong were awarded a National Science Foundation grant from the Sociology Program. Under the five-year $346,149 grant, they will study rural community perceptions of climate action pathways in New York, New Zealand, and Sweden.

Their paper, “Can you mitigate gender bias in student evaluations of teaching? Evaluating alternative methods of soliciting feedback,” presents findings from their randomized experiment to assess whether either intervention can mitigate gender disparities in qualitative evaluation comments.

On a sunny day in mid-June, Vice President for Enrollment Management Monica Inzer had a packed schedule of meetings, calls, and interviews. That’s nothing new, and neither was having John McLaughlin, associate vice president and dean of admission, join her for many of them. What was different was that these were Inzer’s final days in Siuda House before retiring on June 30, and McLaughlin, who arrived on College Hill in January 2023, was preparing to succeed her in leading Hamilton’s enrollment management division.
