Piersall ’27 Works to Preserve the Story of 9/11 at Library of Congress

History is not simply confined to textbooks for Olivia Piersall ’27. This summer, she’s helping to preserve one of the nation’s most significant historical archives at the world’s largest library. Piersall is serving as a junior fellow in the Serial and Government Publications Division at the Library of Congress, where she’s processing the library’s 9/11 newspaper collection.

Finding the right career path for Mia Wrisley ’26 meant finding a way to bring together her many interests. After graduation, with a computer science and world politics double concentration, she joined the Home Depot’s inaugural associate product management program in a role she says brings together both the technical and interpersonal skills she developed at Hamilton.

  • For Paige Hescock ’28, every day as a newspaper reporter brings a new story to tell. This summer, Hescock is interning as a news reporter at the Daily Sentinel in Rome, N.Y., where she covers local news, interviews community members, photographs events, and writes stories for both print and online publication. From tracking down sources over the phone to covering events in person, the internship has immersed her in the fast-paced world of daily journalism.

  • Hamilton College has been awarded a $1.975 million grant through New York State's Higher Education Capital Matching Grant Program (HECap) to support continued renovations to Russell Sage Rink, the oldest continuously operating college hockey rink in the country and home to more than a century of Hamilton Hockey traditions.

  • A growing partnership between Hamilton College and the Masonic Medical Research Institute (MMRI) is giving students the opportunity to pursue biomedical research. This summer, Lydia DeTraglia ’28 and Aksel Reid ’27 are spending 10 weeks at the institute in Utica conducting independent research projects while gaining firsthand experience in a professional laboratory.

  • National and regional news organizations regularly interview Hamilton faculty, staff, alumni, and students for their expertise and perspectives on current events, and to feature programs and activities on campus. News topics included coverage of art, tennis, federal workers, housing issues, among others.
