DK Lee ’17 presented at the 2016 Annual Northeast Regional Computing Program (NERCOMP) Conference in Providence, R.I., on March 23. The projects presented were developed throughout Lee’s year-long Instructional Technology Apprenticeship Program (ITAP) with Educational Technologist Benjamin Salzman ’14.

David Dacres ’18, Erin Lewis ’18, Pat Marris ’16 and Rich Wenner ’17 will travel to San Diego to take part in the first Undergraduate Workshop in Computational Chemistry. The workshop will take place during the 251st American Chemical Society (ACS) National Meeting March 13-17.

Kevin A. Herrera ’16 presented a poster titled “Lightning Protection: Past, Present and Future on the Hamilton College Campus” at the 41st Annual Northeastern Storm Conference held March 4-6 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. His work was based on his senior thesis with Professor of Geosciences Cynthia Domack.

As part of his work on the Pluralism Project with Georgetown and Harvard Universities, Visiting Associate Professor of Religious Studies S. Brent Plate presented via Skype during “Religion and Resettlement: The Role of Religion in Diaspora Communities in the US” on Feb. 25 at Georgetown.

Professor of Geosciences Cynthia Domack and students in Geoscience 390 - Advanced Paleontology: Special Topics in Paleobiology and the Fossil Record visited Little Falls, N.Y., on Oct. 13 to collect fossils.

Members of Robin Kinnel’s Environmental Studies 220 class, “The Cultural and Natural Histories of the Adirondacks,” took a whirlwind tour of the area they are studying when they visited the Adirondacks the weekend of Sept. 26-27.

Seven students and alumni from the laboratory of Assistant Professor of Chemistry Max Majireck presented their research in a poster session at the 250th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society (ACS).

The Hamilton College Chapter of Sigma Xi, the scientific research society, initiated six members of the Class of 2015 to associate membership on May 22 before the annual dinner in Taylor Science Center Atrium. Family members in attendance enjoyed a program of observations by mentors about the students, their research and student plans to continue in research.

Chemistry major Liz DaBramo ’15 is the recipient of a 2015 Undergraduate Student Award from the New York Section of the Society for Applied Spectroscopy (NYSAS). The award recognizes DaBramo’s research efforts, specifically her work with mass spectrometry, during her four years at Hamilton.

Jennie Wilber ’17, Shannon Boley ’17 and Talia Vaughan ’18 presented papers as part of a panel on “American Sacred Space: Constructing and Contesting the Sacred across Cultures” during the annual Eastern International Region meeting of the American Academy of Religion (AAR).
