Past Events:

Expand Your Perspectives: Our Community

Moderated by a Hamilton admission officer, this student panel explored the myriad ways you’ll be able to expand your perspectives as you participate in activities outside of the classroom. Whether your interests lie in athletics, student-led clubs, the arts, or all of the above, this event will highlight the robust opportunities for students to be active in Hamilton’s community.

Explore Your Passions: Hamilton’s Open Curriculum

Some students know exactly what they want to study and can’t wait to get started; Hamilton’s open curriculum provides that flexibility. Others explore different options before discovering what they love and choosing their major; our open curriculum works for them too. With over 40 majors and nearly 60 areas of study, you’ll have the freedom to explore your passions – and at the same time feel supported as you map out your learning plan through close consultation with our integrated advising network. In this panel discussion, members of our student community explain how Hamilton’s open curriculum works, how they decided on their major and minor, and what they’re doing to maximize the academic resources available to explore their interests and achieve their goals.

International Student Life at Hamilton

Moderated by Hamilton’s Director of International Recruitment Anna Wise, this panel will feature current Hamilton students from across the globe. We’re proud of the wide range of students from diverse backgrounds who are on College Hill. On our campus this past year were students from 47 states and 51 countries, with international students comprising 7% of our student body.

Express Yourself: College Essay Writing Tips

Working on your college essay can be a stressful experience — but it doesn’t need to be if you have the right attitude and guidance to keep you on track. That’s what our admission officers will provide in this interactive panel discussion. While we’re not looking for perfection in your essay, we do hope to get to know you better through your writing, and we’ll share some ideas and best practices to keep in mind when you sit down to write your essays this fall.

Expect Opportunity: Our Generous Financial Aid

We know that the world of college financial aid can be overwhelming for many students and their families as it adds another layer of complexity to an already stressful college application process. It doesn’t have to be confusing! In this event, Hamilton’s Executive Director of Financial Aid Janice Scheutzow demystifies the process of applying for financial aid, talks about our generous resources, and provides some guidelines and financing options for you and your family to think about.

Expect Opportunity: Career Planning Using Hamilton’s Alumni Network

This panel discussion features participants from Hamilton’s Career Center team. They explore the ways the Career Center helps students – from choosing a major and résumé writing, to assisting you with finding an internship or other career-related experiences, as well as post-graduation employment and/or graduate school opportunities. You will learn about the wealth of resources available at our Career Center and through Hamilton’s strong and dedicated alumni network.

Express Yourself: Interview Workshop

At Hamilton, relationships and personal connections matter … and that relationship begins when you are in the college search process. One of the best ways to explore your potential fit with Hamilton and connect with the admission office is through a personal interview. Our panelists provide admission interview tips, highlight ways to make the most of your interview experience at Hamilton (and we suppose elsewhere, if you must!).

Athletics and Wellness at Hamilton

Roughly one-third of Hamilton students play a Division III varsity sport as part of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), and nearly half of all students are involved in recreational activities on Hamilton’s campus. Watch this panel of Hamilton coaches, athletics staff, and current students to see a conversation about varsity athletics, club & intramural sports, and wellness programming on campus.

Inside the Hamilton Classroom

Are you curious about what it’s like to take a class at Hamilton? Join Professor of Economics, Paul Hagstrom, as he introduces you to the inner workings of a typical college class. He’ll explore the role of the syllabus, walk you through how a typical class begins each year, and share tips on how first-year students can best connect with faculty and start their college journey on the right foot!

The Room Where it Happens

Join members of our Admission and Financial Aid leadership team in “The Room Where it Happens” (that is a reference to our favorite Broadway show, for those paying attention!). Our panelists answer questions and provide guidance on topics that may be on your mind as you navigate your college search.
