Issue 9 — Spring 2025
What's Next?
IN OUR LAST ISSUE, we introduced you to the first large initiative of President Steven Tepper’s tenure: What If? Since the announcement of the program last fall, the College has received an extraordinary response to that question. Replies include both creative suggestions and imaginative solutions, along with a sense of the exciting energy a simple and challenging question can generate.
In the process, we find again the power of building community at Hamilton. Here on campus, the initiative has forged new connections between faculty members of like minds but different departments, of students who uncovered surprising commonalities with newly made friends, and of staff members who found common purpose in shared interests. In some instances, all three converge! This is one of the many advantages of sharing a small campus that prizes collaboration, partnership, and innovation: we come together to strengthen and enhance the community we love so much.
We consider this the beginning of the “What If?” story. In May, President Tepper shared which goals we will pursue first. Over time, we will add more voices to the process, especially creative voices, because we see how potent a project can be when it reflects a multiplicity of innovative perspectives. Where we go next is a story we will form together.
