Harvest
The Harvest team consists of over 20 student volunteer coordinators, who package leftovers from the hot food lines in Commons and McEwen dining halls. Collaborators include dining staff, as well as facilities management employees who transport the salvaged food to freezers on campus. The support and commitment of each member of this team is essential to the success of our mission: to feed those in need and prevent food waste!
On average, we can divert over 3000 pounds of food to food pantries such as Rescue Mission Utica, The Your Neighbors Program, and The Johnson Park Center. Volunteer coordinators salvage one meal a week, every week in either Commons or McEwen, which typically takes 15-30 minutes.
