The majority of Hamilton students interested in Physical Therapy will take the prerequisites to apply for a 3-year program leading to a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT).

The prerequisite classes vary from school to school, so prospective applicants should check this Course Prerequisite Summary chart for all DPT programs. However, for general planning purposes many programs require:

General Biology (2 semesters with Lab)
Anatomy and Physiology (1 semester each with Lab)
Note: At Hamilton, Anatomy is taught separately from Physiology. Be sure to confirm that the above courses will fulfill the requirements for human anatomy and physiology at the schools to which you plan to apply.
Chemistry (2 semesters with Lab)
Physics (2 semesters with Lab)
Psychology (1-2 semesters)
Statistics (1 semester)
English/composition (1-2 semesters)
Exercise Physiology (1 semester)
