FAQs
Yes. Hamilton will accept and consider applications from undocumented students.
Hamilton College will give full consideration to all undocumented students, and has a formal relationship with Golden Door Scholars, which works with students who have DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) status.
Because undocumented students (including those who have DACA status) are not eligible for federal financial aid, Hamilton’s policy is to review their applications with our international applicant pool and consider them for the financial aid dollars that are set aside for that population. In keeping with Hamilton’s generous financial aid policy for international students, for those undocumented students who are admitted, Hamilton will meet 100 percent of their demonstrated financial need.
U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents whose parents are undocumented will be considered for admission within the context of Hamilton’s domestic applicant pool, and in keeping with our need-blind admission policy. These students are eligible for Hamilton financial aid consideration and federal funding, and if they qualify for need-based financial assistance, their award will be based on their family’s documented income and assets.
The College does not now and will not in the future share information about the immigration status of our students, unless legally required to do so.
The College does not now and will not in the future assist with the enforcement of immigration laws against members of the campus community, unless we are legally required to do so.
