The program attracts students from across the academic disciplines (humanities, the arts, the social sciences and the natural sciences) and who are considering a range of careers: government and nonprofit work, international business, media, foreign service, teaching, medicine, the visual and performing arts, and humanities and law, among others.
In the Paris-based program, students stay in carefully chosen French-speaking homes where they can live the language and culture. Half board is included in tuition and fees.
With advice from the program director, students each design an individualized program of studies to meet their specific academic requirements and to foster their intellectual growth and curiosity. If students are interested, Hamilton in France will help them find extracurricular activities such as volunteer work, sports or music.
Included with tuition and fees is a program of organized excursions to various regions in France and in and around Paris. These trips help round out the student experience in meaningful, and fun, ways.
HiF students commit to speaking only French in all activities, with their hosts and HiF peers. They are required to sign a pledge to speak nothing but French with members of the program. This pledge is one of the features that distinguishes Hamilton in France from most other American programs in France.
