The health center is located to the east of the Sadove Student Center in a central location on campus. The building, completed in 2018, is sited near parking to provide easy access for emergency vehicles.
Access to the Health Center is through scheduled appointments only.
The health center is open during the academic year for Clinic Hours as follows:
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday
8:30 am - 6 pm
Wednesday
10 am - 6 pm
Friday
8:30 am - 4 pm
We are closed for Lunch from 12 -1 pm on Friday.
Phone hours during the academic year as follows:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday: 8:30 am - 5:30 pm
Friday: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
All students who wish to be seen by the health center will need to call to schedule an appointment at 315-859-4111. If it is a medical emergency, please call 315-859-4000 for Hamilton College EMS.
The Health Center is pleased to offer after-hours nursing triage phone service, Fonemed.
When the Health Center is closed, after hours and on weekends, students may call the Health Center at 315-859-4111 and press “1” and be connected to the Fonemed call center. Urgent calls will be answered immediately, but for most individuals, a message will be taken and an RN will call back, typically within 30 minutes. The Nurse will review the concerns, provide information, and if necessary, help direct students to off-campus medical resources. Health Center staff will review the reports the next business day during the academic year and reach out to students to see if they require follow-up care or additional supports.
Looking to talk to a nurse about NON-EMERGENT medical issues, especially after hours? If you are a student that is enrolled in MVP insurance here at Hamilton, there is a 24/7 Nurse Advice Line available to you, for NON-EMERGENT medical questions, at 1-888-687-6277.
You can also log into the MVP website to email a nurse via MVPs secure online form. Again, this service is for NON-EMERGENT medical questions/advice. *This service is only available to those enrolled in an MVP policy. For those students enrolled in a individual policy, we encourage you to reach out to your insurance provider and ask about this service. Most insurance companies offer a similar service to their participants.*
If you are not feeling well and the health center is closed, and you need medical attention, you can go to one of local urgent care facilities: Slocum Dickson Urgent Care, and WellNow Urgent Care. There are also two local hospitals: Faxton-St. Luke's, and St. Elizabeth's.
No, the health center does not charge for office visits. Students will be charged for medications given from the health center and for rapid testing performed, EKG's and for "No Show" appointments.
Transportation to medical appointments off-campus must to be arranged through the Hamilton College Transportation Office at 315-859-4515. Please call the transportation office at least one day in advance to make arrangements for this service. Transportation for multiple visits will require a note from a provider stating the need for transportation (The note does not need to state why you are going to the appointments). For after-hours or weekend health-related transportation needs (when the health center is closed), please call Campus Safety at 315-859-4141. Please be advised that failure to cancel an appointment for scheduled transportation my result in a noncancellation fee which will be added to the student's tuition bill.
Yes, you will need to bring any ongoing prescription medications and if you have asthma and use a nebulizer, to bring your nebulizer. We also recommend the following items:
- Health insurance card
- COVID-19 rapid tests
- Thermometer
- Band Aids
- Tweezers
- Fever reducer/pain reliever medications such as ibuprofen and acetaminophen
- Cough and cold medication
- Reusable cold packs
- Tissues
- Hand sanitizer
