Jazz Backstory
The podcast series “Jazz Backstory” offers listeners an inside look at the world of jazz, featuring Monk Rowe, the Joe Williams Director of the Fillius Jazz Archive and a Lecturer in Music Performance at Hamilton College. The archive houses over 300 fully transcribed interviews with artists active as far back as the 1930s. Each episode of the podcast series focuses on a different “backstory,” with several artists addressing the same topic. Rowe’s efforts are supported by members of the Digital Initiatives, Scholarship, and Collaboration (DISC) and Research & Instructional Design (R&ID) teams.
